LPG Pumping and Metering
It is imperative that the U.S. finds alternative fuel sources – particularly those located at home. One fuel that seems promising is liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Liquefied petroleum gas is partly a byproduct of petroleum refining, and the remainder comes from natural gas processing. Because it’s widely available, LPG is referred to as the least “alternative” of the alternative fuels.
Liquefied petroleum gas has had success in other countries as vehicle fuel, but it has not taken off yet in the U.S. One reason may be because dealing with the transfer of LPG can be tricky. LPG can only maintain a liquid state at certain pressures. This is the main reason it is essential to have an accurate metering system when working with this type of fuel. Accurate flow parameters and system pressures must be maintained throughout the loading process. Attention must be given to ensure the gas remains in a consistent liquid state. Another important aspect of LPG is that it’s colorless and odorless, so an odorant must be injected to identify leaks.
An LPG skid-mounted system from Carbis allows us to do all of the intricate work, making sure pressures, metering, transfer, and odorant injection are all accurate. Because Carbis wires and tests its systems before they ship, you’re assured a high quality system that’s easy to install – even in a small space. Our many years of experience in fuel handling and processing allow us to create a fully integrated system for your business. With the increased demand in the U.S. for affordable fuels, these systems benefit your business by accurately and safely metering, loading, and offloading fuels and other liquids.
